This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, post bail, release anyone, or retrieve an official booking record. Contact the agency that holds the record.
Official Offices and Services
The right contact depends on whether the person left the local jail, transferred to another county, entered state custody, or needs a court record. The contacts below come from official Lake of the Woods County and Minnesota sources. Call ahead when an in-person visit is needed because a posted county schedule may change.
Lake of the Woods Sheriff
Lake of the Woods County Sheriff's Office and Records Division
206 8th Avenue SE, Suite 300
Baudette, MN 56623
Phone: 218-634-1143
Records email: LE.Records@co.lotw.mn.us
County-posted general hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The posted schedule is for county government generally and has not been confirmed as Records Division-specific. Ask the Sheriff Records Division for existing booking, custody-ending, release, or transfer data. The county offers free inspection of public data; copy fees and actual costs may apply.
District Court
Lake of the Woods County District Court
206 8th Avenue SE, Suite 250
Baudette, MN 56623
Phone: 218-634-1451
Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The court can help with case records and legal dispositions, but a court entry does not usually prove the exact time someone physically left a jail. Court Administration accepts cash bail and bonds from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. The Sheriff handles bail when court is closed. Confirm current requirements before arriving.

Phone: 1-877-664-8463
TTY: 1-866-847-1298
Customer help: 1-866-277-7477
VINE covers county detention events. It is not connected to Minnesota DOC prisons. For state-prison notifications, Minnesota Haven and Victim Assistance can be reached at 1-800-657-3830 or victimassistance.doc@state.mn.us.
Use these routes to choose the source that fits the question:
- For a released person or an existing county release record, the home page explains the full verification and request path.
- For community supervision, use Post-Release Supervision and the Roseau field office contact.
- For a same-day check, see 24-Hour Releases; Lake of the Woods County does not publish an official recent-release feed.
- For a future state date or county-jail notification, use Release Date Lookup or VINE Inmate Check.
- For a person held elsewhere after transfer, use the official receiving-jail source named by VINE or the sending record.
- For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Minnesota DOC Locator first and DOC Records when an older discharge record is needed.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the official BOP or ICE locator that matches the jurisdiction.
